Chhatrapati Shivaji's "Wag Nakh" arrives in Mumbai: What We can Learn?

The 'wagh nakh' or tiger claw-shaped weapon used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was brought to Mumbai from a London museum , state Culture Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said.

This wagh nakh will now be taken to Satara in western Maharashtra and put on display starting Friday.

"The wagh nakh has landed," Mr Mungantiwar said but did not divulge any further details.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and the Victoria and Albert Museum was signed in London to bring the renowned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's tiger claw Wagh Nakh to India.

In Hindi, "Wagh Nakh" signifies a tiger's claw. Wagh Nakh can be worn over the knuckles or tucked under and up against the palm. It has four or five curved blades that are fastened to a crossbar or glove, allowing it to sever through flesh and muscle. Afzal Khan, the general of Bijapur, was killed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the first Maratha leader, using a bichuwa and Wagh Nakh. The Maratha Empire was founded by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

One of the most important moments in Chhatrapati Shivaji's life was the defeat of Afzal Khan.
"Wag Nakh" was employed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during a meeting with Afzal Khan. When Afzal Khan attacked Shivaji Maharaj, Shivaji Maharaj used "Wag Nakh" to rip open his stomach. This dramatic event resulted in the death of Afzal Khan. The entire Pratapgadh chapter and Afzal Khan are globally renowned. When Shivaji Maharaj was crowned in 1674, the seeds of "Hindavi Swaraj" were firmly planted by this episode.

Here, I would like to emphasize that Shivaji Maharaj's employment of "wag Nakh" was nothing more than a creative use of the finest military strategies. It was to become "Atmanirbhar" as well. The topic we discuss frequently is learning how to be independent and self-sufficient.

When we consider Shivaji Maharaj's dominion, we discover that it was encircled by both powerful and weak adversaries. Shivaji Maharaj had to deal with the issue of internal discord as well. It was his creative methods and tactics that won him the game.

The issue of terrorism affects us today, and there is a risk to internal security. Our security and defense are constantly vigilant. The recent acts of terrorism in Jammu pose a threat to our safety and security. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj teaches us how to apply innovative concepts and tactics. Throughout his life, Shivaji Maharaj never used the same strategy or idea twice. Every conflict was waged using novel strategies and tactics. His unexpected attacks frequently caught the opposition off guard.

Our security and defense departments use technology and artificial intelligence (AI) these days to combat terrorism.

There are several advantages to using AI technology to combat terrorism, but scientists are confronted with a serious conundrum: these same technologies might be used by terrorists. As a result, it's really a race against time for innovation, necessitating greater initiative. They must stay ahead of the terrorists and create "overmatching" security systems that protect the public, preserve their freedom, and unhindered travel.

To conclude I would like to quote Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj “The Strongest Enemy can be defeated with your conviction, determination and passion”

Jai Hind
