A Day which was not "Soft" for Microsoft: A "Hard" Lesson to All

A Microsoft cloud failure caused widespread disruption and turmoil on a global scale.

The flight operations were negatively impacted by the interruption. Akasa Airlines has declared that there would be a temporary outage of many of its online services at the airports in Delhi and Mumbai. In a statement, Spice Jet added that it is presently experiencing a technical problem with its ability to provide flight information.
Additionally, Indigo Airlines reported that a Microsoft outage is also affecting its systems. A statement stated that certain flights, booking, check-in, and access to your boarding card might be affected during

Australian news sites further stated that the loss of computer systems caused disruptions to banks, airlines, telecommunications companies, and media broadcasters. In New Zealand, some banks claimed to be offline as well.

Cyber-security experts warned that even though there is now a software fix, it will take a lot of work to get computers back up and running.

Researcher Kevin Beaumont said, "As systems no longer start, impacted systems will need to be started in ‘Safe Mode’, to remove the faulty update. This is incredibly time-consuming and will take organizations days to do at scale. Essentially we have one of the world’s highest impact IT incidents caused by a cyber-security vendor.

The Microsoft outage serves as a reminder that technical issues can arise in large multinational corporations. Many large digital platforms have experienced technological issues in recent years. Similar issues were previously encountered by Amazon, Google, and Meta. What steps may we take to avoid harm?

Since "prevention is better than cure," the business and commerce sectors ought to take proactive measures of their own to lessen disruption and damage. Cloud services are undoubtedly dependable, but in an emergency of this nature, business sectors need to have their own protocols and policies in place to either completely avoid damage or at least significantly reduce it.

Another lesson is that in today's tech-savvy environment, service disruptions might happen. Nobody can provide a perfect guarantee. The large platform has issues as well. Put another way, we may argue that difficulties are a natural part of life and that they can be overcome with perseverance and ingenuity.
