The Shot and The Other Side of America

 Donald Trump, the former US president, assassination attempt. Luckily, the bullet that was fired at him went through close to his ear. Once saved, he is presently stable and getting better. Globally speaking, all leaders denounce this incident. "There is no place for violence in democracy," was the prevailing sentiment that emerged.

 It goes without saying that violence has no place in any aspect of society. The USA, the world's oldest democracy, is constantly seeking to impart knowledge. In addition to many other issues, American leaders are constantly voicing their support for human values, fundamental rights, and democracy. They think they are the only ones who can say and act in the correct ways. However, this instance has demonstrated how things are now operating in the USA.

 India is the world's largest democratic nation, and throughout the 2024 elections, we witnessed how the United States of America made statements and attempted to sway our internal affairs. The USA has previously made pronouncements on internal issues pertaining to India prior to the elections. This is their old tactic or inclination to demonstrate to the world their superiority and their authority to intervene in the affairs of other nations.

 The USA has frequently declared its opposition to violence and human rights while also attempting to exert pressure on India. We vividly recall how, following the Godara riots, the United States denied Shri Narendra Modi's visa.

 In hindi there is a famous dialogue “ जिनके घर शीशे के होते है वो दूसरों पर पत्थर नहीं मारा  करते”

This applies to the USA also. The political parties have created space for anger, resulting in this attack. The people who are criticizing us that we are less tolerant, less resilient and undemocratic are showing the world how weak they are.

 Let me remind them that “Bharat ne yudha nahi Budha Diye Hai”. We have an ancient democracy and value-based country where everyone gets the opportunity to grow and prosper. We pray for every one : सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामया।

 However, the United States of America is a nation where firearms and gun violence are rapidly on the rise and the primary cause of mortality for both children and teenagers. In the USA, both traditional and modern firearms are widely accessible.

I would like to quote Donald Trump here: "There is no gun problem in America; mass shootings occur. This is a problem pertaining to mental health, culture, and spirituality". Through his statement, the true nature of the self-proclaimed “Democracy Saver” is revealed.
We are glad to declare that "We believe and live in the principle of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam," even if we strongly condemn the attack and the other acts of violence.

  At last to quote Swami Vivekananda,

"I am a Hindu and proud to belong to a religion that has taught the world tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal toleration but we accept all religion as true"
