India denounced on 16 th September  the remarks made by Iran's top leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, about the country's minorities. “We strongly deplore the comments made regarding minorities in India by the Supreme Leader of Iran. These are misinformed and unacceptable.  A three-member delegation of US diplomats visited Srinagar on 26th August ahead of the Assembly elections in the Union Territory after a gap of 10 years. "The visit is well within the boundaries of diplomatic outreach mechanism of the US State Department," a senior government official told.
